Value Stream Lean Facilitator, Integer

Practical experience of an Irish medical device manufacturer using the ‘Lean’ philosophy  to move towards world-class maintenance

In this presentation, John will explore some of the challenges and changes required to create a world class maintenance system, focusing primarily on TPM and the Toyota Maintenance System.

With the combination of Greatbatch and Lake Region Medical, in October 2015, Integer Corporations Holdings became the largest medical device outsource manufacturer in the world.  With over 800 employees on site, Integer’s high-volume manufacturing facility in New Ross, Co Wexford, markets to customers in more than 30 countries worldwide, including Boston Scientific, Medtronic, St. Jude Medical and Johnson & Johnson.

Over the past 18 years, John has held the positions of Maintenance Supervisor, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Champion and Maintenance Principal Engineer at Integer/Lake, New Ross. Currently in the role of Value Stream Lean Facilitator, he is a key member of the management team that leads the site’s continuous improvement journey, with highlights including being awarded the Shingo Bronze Medallion in 2012 and again in 2015. Prior to joining Lake, John worked for Ford UK, Lurgi Gmbh, Hewlett-Packard and Sola Lenses. He holds an MSc in Lean Operations from Cardiff University.
