Using digitisation to increase overall equipment efficiency
CONFIRM, based at the university of Limerick, is the Science Foundation Ireland research centre for smart manufacturing. The €47m-funded centre brings together 42 industrial partners; 8 national research and technology centres and 16 international collaborators. Among its various projects, the centre is currently working with two very large Irish bases of multinational corporations on the use of Industry 4.0 approaches, such as sensorisation, algorithms, machine learning and augmented reliality, for asset care and optimising asset utilisation.
At Reliability Ireland 2019, Bill will talk about the potentially huge benefits but also the challenges of implementing an Industry 4.0 approach to reliability and maintenance in manufacturing.
Before joining CONFIRM in April 2018, Bill was a senior operations director with global responsibility. With a background in minerals, renewables and pharma, a he holds a PhD and MBA, is a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt and a certified quality auditor.
